Friday Faves

Hello my friends! It's true, my last few posts have basically just been Friday Faves, but I'm determined to challenge myself to get more of a variety of posts in the future. But for today, I'll stick to my faves!
I absolutely can not get over how much I love the fall. My mom just came back from Finland, with some clothes she bought for me there as a souvenir. It seems to me that they've also been loving the autumn season, and they're very much "forest people", haha. When I think of Finland, I think lopi sweaters, big wool socks, knitted hats... So partially inspired by Finland, here we go with my Friday Faves:

This couple's stamp is a great idea from Elsie's blog.

This knitted cap (or as Canadians say it, tuque!) looks so cozy.

For a long time I had no idea what I really liked in a wedding dress, after all I'm only sixteen (and who knows if I'll even get married!), but now I know that this is my dream wedding dress. I can't stop looking at it, the straps and bodice are so beautful...

I love this so much. I've been trying to grow out my hair so it ends up looking like her's.

Aww, this is so cute. I love Paper Sparrow's animal doodles.

Hope you're all enjoying a lovely fall, I'm definitely inspired.

Autumn Has Arrived

Wow, it's been forever since I've made a post! Please accept my dearest apologies - I'll get back on track I promise! School has officially commenced, as of last Wednesday. It's always a scary thing to start, but I think this is going to be a pretty good semester. Last year, I was way too stressed out and had a lot on my plate so I've made a promise to try really, really hard to give myself time to relax this year. It seems to be working out so far, because I had no homework today and therefore made snickerdoodles with Georgia, the sensible thing to do on a chilly autumn day :)

I've been getting so inspired by fall fashion, especially anything knit. Check out this great sweater... I'm IN LOVE!
Now with the cold weather, I can finally wear these boots I bought in Paris this summer :) It was their 'sales week' so they were actually not very expensive. Check out the snickerdoodles fresh from the oven in the background...
I have a VERY drab planner from my school that I need to add a little more interesting... this idea of using a vintage book cover is such a good idea. Might try it this weekend.

I wonder if I could do this myself using old sweaters.

At the moment, I'm listening to the soundtrack from one of my favourite movies, Les Choristes. Just thought I'd add that in here, since it is such a charming and fantastic movie, I can't talk about it enough :)

Have yourselves a great day!

Friday Faves

1. Fall scarves. I love big knitted/crocheted scarves so much, I can't wait to start wearing them :)

2. This cute pencil shoe is perfect for back to school!

3. These crocheted slippers are divine.

4. A milk and cookies mug... how clever :)

5. Fingerless gloves made from sweater sleeves - so cozy!

That's it for my Friday Faves! I was racing the clock trying to finish before midnight, so that it would still technically be Friday by the time I posted this, haha. Hope you have a lovely long weekend. I am absolutely loving this fall weather.

Thrifting the Mennonite Way

A few days ago, my cousins, sister, aunt, mom, and I took a mini fall road trip to a festival in a small town nearby. We stopped by a MCC (Mennonite Central Commitee) Thrift Store on the way and looked around for a bit - it was fabulous! I have Mennonite roots although I am not religious, but it was still really neat to see the Mennonite tradition of saving everything put into practice.

I loved this vintage orange chair - only 15 bucks!

I was tempted to buy this clock for $3.      Even yogourt containers are reused!

You can always count on finding a good Christmas sweater...

Vintage suitcases = looove.

Stay tuned for my next post about the festival!

Ana Somnia

I'm about to get to bed, but I first HAVE to share this website that I just found... please check it out - it's eerie, inspiring, and strangely fantastic.

It might only work if you have a webcam, but I'm not sure.

Repurposed Jars

I love glass jars! They're so old fashioned and gorgeous and everytime I go to the thrift store I want to buy a billion because they're useful for everything...

I love this idea, just stuff some old photos into glass jars -
these ones were used for a display at somebody's wedding.

Useful for storing random little knick-knacks

Lots of different colours and shapes

What a neat soap dispenser :)

These jars have lightbulbs inside them - LOVE it!

Painted white for a more modern feel.

Hope everybody had a lovely weekend! It's almost September, but I'm so ready for the fall!

Friday Faves!

3 cheers for my first weekly feature! I was originally going to do ten Friday Fave items, but for now I'm only going to do 5, because it's late and takes a lot longer than I thought :P No worries, I'll increase soon...

1. Super duper nice bathtubs... 'nuff said.

2. Autumn boots :) I LOVE these ones...

3. Coloured tights - especially wine and mustard.

4. GRANNY SQUARES!

5. Old-fashioned children's games like Dutch Blitz, Memory, that one where you create the beard on the man using a magnet and dragging sand-like stuff across the board (know what I'm talking about?).

That's it for my Friday Faves, hope you enjoyed! Have a lovely summer to fall transition...
